I kind of made this thread as a sort of vent for my head, to put down some thoughts on paper (or hard drive disks on a server, whatever), and to act as a primer for a sort of journal I am doing. Every now and then I like to start over, to train my mind to put certain things in the back of the bus and "relearn" what I already know, sort of like a review where I pretend to myself that I don't know what I'm doing. Sometimes when people follow along, they learn something new that I took for granted. For instance, how to put an operating system on a thumb drive (not a LiveCD .iso, a real instal, yes theres a difference) so that no matter where you go, you will always have your operating system with your files and settings in your pocket. Or how to create a RAID array with 6 thumb drives, such things I've explained to people and they were shocked. This made me shocked in return - shocked at what I took for granted. I like people to have knowledge, free knowledge and free resources, which is why I won't teach anything about non-free or proprietary stuff like Windows.

This is why I'm a huge Linux advocate, because there is much in the Linux world that fits this bill. Anything I share in my "relearning" will be free. Free to download, free to install, free to modify. Free. So if you're bored and want a fun project to do that can teach you a thing or two about computers and stuff, follow along as I explore, once again, everything I've already learned to help me remember it. I'll post a new thing once or twice a week depending on how busy I am, but at least one thing a month for sure.

Peace
