I got Space Siege yesterday (Friday, September 11, 2009) in the mail, because I purchased it new on Amazon.  Well, I didn't actually play the game until today (Saturday, September 12, 2009), and it runs fine (other than it being extremely laggy, even on the lowest graphics settings and in the smallest window), except for this one error I just got.  I was playing it on single player and was entering "Medical Center Delta" and it crashed the game.  Here is a screenshot of the error:

How much longer will it take to cure this
Just to cure it cause I can't ignore it if it's love (love)
Makes me wanna turn around and face me but I don't know nothing 'bout love

Come on, come on
Turn a little faster
Come on, come on
The world will follow after
Come on, come on
Cause everybody's after love

To get more out of your gamer set-up:

1.) Disable unnecessary processes (like printer service, modem service) while playing the game.
2.) Learn to create shortcuts on your desktop that run such commands as "/realtime" (gives it more processor power).
3.) do CTRL+ALT+Delete (brings up task manager) go to "processes", kill "explorer.exe" and other processes that you don't use while playing the game. When you're done, do CTRL+ALT+Delete (bring up task manager again) and do "file" -> "run" (or whatever) "explorer.exe" to get your desktop back.
4.) Go to System Properties, and change your virtual memory to 1.5 the size of your RAM, so if you have 2Gigs of ram, change it to 3Gigs Virtual Memory Min, and 3G Virtual Memory Max. This will make sure there is no overhead when windows tries to resize it when you run out of ram.
5.) Get rid of windows. LOL. Run this through WINE on Linux and feel the increase in speed.

There's lots more, but the best thing to fix the issue is to google your problem. "Virtual Alloc error when playing Space Siege"

Hope you find the answer.

Peace!
