Everyone seems to have a different opinion on swimwear: just wondering, what are yours?

I believe that bikinis are immodest.
I prefer to wear shorts and a shirt over my swimsuit.
But that's just me and my opinion (:

I'm not bothered by them on a moral level, but I find them inconveniant.  Tough to do anything but lie around or walk in slow motion.

Personally, i won't wear bikini's. I wear a one-piece swimsuit with shorts over the top, and often some sort of top as well (partially because I burn easily too)

They're ok, but there is a point where it gets to be too much, like when it's little fabric and a lot of skin. Personally I go for tankinis or a one piece, partially because I don't look good in a bikini

I believe that they are immodest. Anything that exposes your breasts or your midriff is not okay with God. Another thing is if a boy is watching you, they might think of un Christ-like thought in their mind which means you are a stumbling block to not only yourself but to others.

might?! More than ten times likely the guy is gonna think about you naked if you're running around in articles similar to underwear. I wouldn't even run around in a bikini in front of my husband because it means we're outside the house which means theres a chance of someone whom I *don't* want seeing me half naked to see me in lack of clothing.

I think it partly has to do with loving people too...I love people enough to really truly want to not lead a man to stray from God. Whatever I can do to discourage unhealthy thoughts..I'll do for my God and my fellow brothers and sisters. Apparently, this makes me lose out on "attracting" men though..even the saved ones. So sad. I'm so discouraged with guys...especially since I thought there was hope. Nope. All men think and want the same thing....and since I refuse to be a sex kitten and throw myself at someone I want.....I lose. game over.

If you have to wear skimpy clothes or throw yourself at a guy to get his attention, he's not worth it anyway. =)

Intriguing. I didn't think there were many people who agreed with me on this matter.

I'm a firm advocate of modest dress and I tend to write off girls who wear bikinis to the beach. People can call me a prude all they want, but I don't see how it's any different from walking outside in your bra and panties.

I went to the beach once in the last five or so years and it was relatively recently. I don't think I ever want to go back.

If one went out in public in a bra and underwear would that be immodest?

Umm not really in my opinion. If someone feels comfortable in nikinis, ok. Now if they were doing immodest activities in a bikini, then thats going to far Tongue

For men, it takes .4 seconds to fully imagine the rest of what's under that top. While it takes 4 or more seconds to try to imagine what's underneath that thing on the bottom. See the difference in how even that much modesty effects men?

Peace

I agree- modesty is good.

People are basically taught by TV, radio, video games, movie, etc. to WANT lust and impurity and sex.  We are practicaly told it is the good and right thing.  And to not be of this mind means that we're impractical, we're kill joys, we're being "consevative" and "funbdamenalistic" (in the derogatory sense of the words), etc.

So, since we as Christians realize the good reasons behind modesty, we should do as much as possible to reman modest, and think of ways how to show and tell people about modesty which doesn't come off as the words I used above.
